Objective
Dribble at full speed in a straight line while maintaining control.
Instructions
- 1
Place two cones 30 yards apart.
- 2
Sprint with the ball from one cone to the other, pushing it slightly ahead with each stride.
- 3
Walk back as recovery. Repeat 8 times.
- 4
Focus on touching the ball every two to three strides.
Coaching Points
- ✓ Push the ball forward with the laces or outside of the foot — not the toe.
- ✓ Keep your head up to see where you are going.
- ✓ The ball should feel like an extension of your stride, not a separate action.
Age Notes
U8 Shorten the distance to 15 yards and celebrate every clean run.
Variations
- → Race a partner side-by-side for competitive pressure.
- → Add a U-turn at the far cone to combine speed dribbling with a tight turn.
